Young minds are soaring high with their strong determination, commitment, purpose-driven, adventurous, open-minded, exploratory mindset can contribute much in the society.
The Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will be launching the program “Youth Envi Icon: Recognition of Youth Environmental Champions”, to give recognition to youth leaders for their great contribution in environmental protection and management.
The program aims to recognize youth with outstanding contribution in environmental management and protection; highlight youth efforts, green initiatives and contribution in environmental conservation; and encourage and inspire more youth to be leaders and partners in environmental protection and management.
As the younger generation are exposed to social trends, keeping at pace with advanced technology, these young minds have better opportunities to explore new ideas that would make them become actively participating in addressing environmental issues.
“Young as they are, these younger generation has vital role in environmental protection and management”, RD Sophie Manuel said.
EMB-XI will nominate a youth leader “whose passion for protecting the environment is inspiring and demonstrates strong potentials to be a prime mover in environmental protection” RD Manuel added. The nominee will represent Region 11 to the said award.
Aside from environmental initiatives, leadership and commitment, innovativeness, notable achievements including future plans and vision are the criteria for judging.
The DENR-EMB thru the Environmental Education and Information Division will select three deserving youth leaders nationwide. A cash prize of P15,000.00 awaits winners as financial support to the green initiatives of the winners. Awarding of winners is slated on the 2nd week of November in time for the celebration of National Environmental Awareness Month.
